So, after a solid 11 hours of sleep and some 'heavier' than usual medications, I'm feeling way better. Swelling seems down a little bit, pain is manageable, and I'm in a far better mood. I've graduated from drinking shakes to eating ice cream with a spoon, and am going to try Jello for dinner. It's really amazing what only being able to open your mouth a little bit can limit your diet to. Even if I were allowed to chew (I'm not), I don't know how much food I could actually eat.
It's really true that your fluid and liquid intake has a direct effect on your recovery. Yesterday I'm pretty sure I was dehydrated, and felt like shit. Today I'm putting back the drinks, and feel way better. Ok, ok... Lesson learned

woohoo...on the road to recovery. does that mean you can drink beer now? :o)
ReplyDeletecongrats on the good nights sleep. it is funny how you mention how important fluids are. I was giving out liters of normal saline like candy in the ER last month and they make a bit of a difference. good luck with the jello. Don't let anyone sneak you the diabetic crap. It SUCKS when you grab that one in the hospital fridge by accident when you want to sneak a snack. Take care,
